The Tungsten Media Toolkit comes with software libraries and bundled applications
for the supported platforms. The software libraries provide a common set of features,
which are enabled via a license file. The bundled applications utilize these libraries
and will operate based on the underlying features enabled in the license file.
These libraries can be used by customers in their own application using the features enabled
by their license file. Each computer using the Tungsten libraries, either via bundled Tungsten
applications or a customer's own application, has a license file on it or is licensed via connection
to a Tungsten Server.
Development License
A development license is offered for the customers that are developing their own applications
on the Tungsten libraries. A development license file enables ALL of the features.
Typically these licenses are node-locked by network MAC address to the development computers.
Runtime License
A runtime license is offered for finished applications built on the Tungsten libraries, typically
using only a subset of the features. A runtime license file enables only the individual features
necessary for the application.
Customers typically look to deploy a set of applications based on the Tungsten libraries
and include a runtime license on each computer using these applications. Runtime licenses
are offered node-locked by MAC address for low volume customers but the node-locking
restriction is typically removed for higher volumes.
Evaluation License
Evaluation licenses are offered for evaluation purposes, typically as part of a Tungsten Evaluation.
Tungsten evaluation license files are like development license files
in that they enable all of the features. However, they are valid only a specific period of time. |
